Winnie Monsod asked Cynthia Villar about the proposal of the Technical Nursing Committee and CHED related to nursing schools to be closed due to low performance. It was followed up by a question regarding the resignation of the Technical Nursing Education Committee after 7 months in office.
Filipino nurses and others were not pleased by Cynthia Villar's answers.
As quoted, "Actually, hindi kailangan ng mga nurse na matapos ng BSN. Kasi itong ating mga nurse gusto lang nilang maging room nurse. Or sa America and in other countries. Eh, ano lang sila, yung parang mag-aalaga. Hindi naman sila kailangan ganoon kagaling." -Cynthia Villar
By this controversy, Cynthia Villar offended Filipino nurses both practicing and non-practicing. For this, she owes the Filipino nurses a sincere public apology.
